“Incredible”
I was staying in Chitose before a flight home after a ski trip and this was one of the few restaurants open late enough. I lucked out - it was one of the best meals I had on my 2 week trip. I ate some very high end sushi meals in Tokyo but this was a better experience. The staff was so friendly an...d attentive. The lady serving drinks had been learning english and was eager to try it out. We had a great time!! The sushi was a very interesting selection of fresh fish and the meal was well-paced. I cannot recommend this place enough. I will be back to Japan someday to ski and likely staying in Chitose at some point... I will absolutely be back. Cannot reccomend it enough

“Great Sushi Place”
The day before heading home, me and my friend were staying near Chitose Airport. We were trying to look for a place to have a good dinner and chance upon this place. Had a very satisfying meal! A very traditional Japanese restaurant with counter seats. Though language was a little barrier, the suppe...r friendly services make up for it. The people there go all the way to try and communicate with us. We can’t understand much of the Japanese menu and just went for a sushi set. The ingredients used were really fresh and everything were absolutely delicious:) Had a really heartwarming and satisfying meal.

“Definitely not for families”
Just wanted a quick, delicious dinner for our first night in Japan. Obviously we didn’t do enough research because this was so disappointing. The service was immaculate but the sashimi choices were just too adventurous for our taste. Definitely go here if you want sashimi & are willing to pay top do...llar for it.

“Highly recommended: one of the best sushi restaurants in the central Hokkaido area”
Kita no Hana ("Northern Flowers" or "Festivity of North") has established its name as one of the best sushi restaurants for years in the central Hokkaido area including Sapporo, Otaru, and Tomakomai, especially since it earned two starts in Michelin Guide. I guarantee that it is as good as the best ...sushi restaurant you can find in NYC. It may be even better. The restaurant is a small annex separated from the main house right next to it. There are only less than ten counter seats. Mr. Hayashi, the owner/main chef, will cook sushi for you behind the counter in front of you. His wife a well-trained sommelier of Japanese Sake and will serve one that goes well together with sushi being serviced. There are only one or two pre-fixe menus. We ordered one for 10,000 yen, which include several sashimis and sushis as shown by the photos. The best part of this restaurant is its creativity to give a little twist to the traditional cooking approaches. Those are so subtle that my limited vocabulary does not allow describing what exactly they are, but you will clearly notice the difference. One example would be oyster. By lightly blanching it, Mr. Hayashi successfully transformed it into a creamy delicacy while preserving the original fresh flavor. The main house, Kita no Hana (with no name of the owner), also have excellent reputations. Junior chefs seem to serve sushi under Mr. Hayashi's supervision. Making a reservation seems to be easier there. If you have several vacant hours at Chitose International Airport and if you would like to know what authentic Japanese sushi looks like, I'd suggest calling this restaurant to see if there are any available seats. It would take about 20 min by taxi from the airport.

“Friday night”
We wandered out from the hotel based on the previous reviews and in search of some local fare. A little difficult to find but the 'show name and address in local language' came in handy. We were well received and with our (nearly) 4 year old daughter we sat at the bar. There we could watch the chefs... perform their skills. I had a sushi set, my wife the sashimi while my daughter had 2 sushi a la carte and the mushroom flan. A gentlemen next to us spoke English and was friendly and helpful, the waitress and one of the chefs spoke a little English too. The food was superb, with fondant fish beautifully sculpted and presented. I had 2 beers, my wife two glasses of wine. The cost was just shy of 10000 Yen. So not free. It was however a pleasant evening for us personally and gastronomically. If I was to return, which I hope to do so, I would take the degustation (tasting) menu. Finally, we were fortunate to find a special restaurant to host us so well on a Friday night, without a reservation.
