Highly not recommended, do not go this restaurant, the senior man at front reception discriminates foreigners and I called in they said no one can speak English, they only like service Japanese customers,

I've been to several Sukiyaki restaurants in Kyoto and other parts of Japan and this shop definitely ranks first for me. Although other restaurants serve amazing Sukiyaki as well, something about Mishimatei sets it apart. The quality of the beef (i recommend you splurge and get the best quality se...t, it's worth it) melts in your mouth. The pacing of the course, the order of the ingredients cooked, the sauce used, the interaction with the staff was great. Every Sukiyaki place has a different style to the way they serve and cook in front of you but Mishimatei's style suited me the best. (I think only after being to several sukiyaki places, i could truly appreciate and see what sets Mishimatei apart).

I tried to have dinner in this place with my wife. Unfortunately, as we did not book, we could not find a place. What happened later surprised me. In order to inform us that there was no availability, we were pushed out of the entrance by the old man downstairs. I didn't really notice what happene...d since Japanese people are very nice, I thought I was wrong. After a while, however, we returned to book for the following evening but the result was even worse, he pushed me out again with great rudeness and probably a good deal of racism too and this time what was an impression has been confirmed. At this point I politely told him not to touch me again and then we left.

Do not go to mishimatei takashimaya. Very BAD service from the young lady with the glasses and stars on her hair. Anyway, the food was good.

The food is amazing and the place is very traditional. There is a cheerful young girl serving us throughout the evening. Impressive.
