“Huge portions, service so so”
Stumbled over this restaurant, went in because they seemed to have a lot of different food to offer. The restaurant was packed, but we soon got a table. A lot to choose from, prices reasonable. Service was not the best, waiters seemed a bit stressed. Food was good, huge portions.

“Comfort food.”
Rice omelette's with various toppings. Busy place, service was good. Read various reviews complaining about service and/or the cashier, but didn't find the experience negative. Not really what I consider authentic Japanese food; however this place is an institution - so it probably does quality a...s 'authentic'. Decent comfort food.

“Omelette for Dinner...yes thanks!”
Visited after a long day of travel and walking around Kyoto for the afternoon. Restaurant Star was an interesting menu with the rice filled omelette as the signature....but there is a good mixture of ‘western’ and Japanese alike. Great service, good sized serving and great taste. I had the curry ver...sion and kids had the carbonara (I won) About $80 Australian for four dinners plus drinks.

“Friendly service with nice food”
We actually wanted to go for L'oeuf omurice, but the queue was 2hrs plus long. So we ended up here for our lunch instead. Despite some of the negative reviews, we didn't encounter any poor service or attitude. The food is quite good and portion is big (for me anyway) for it's price. Not bad at al...l.

“The Restaurant Manager from Hell!”
My family of 11 adults and teens were famished. We were in desperate need of fooood! Among the hundreds of restos around we chose Restaurant Star but it didn't deserve our patronage. When we were filing into the restaurant, the manager stopped us abruptly from reaching a table and recited a litany ...of "we do nots" ( we do not allow sharing etc). We agreed to his terms ignoring his rude behavior because hunger clouded up our hypothalamus! After which he holds up his hand and answers his cellphone while maintaining a "stop" gesture. The "Hulk" within me emerged and I gave him a thumbs down. I said "Trip Advisor, thumbs down!!!!" I do not understand why this manager put us through that embarrassing experience?? Please do me a favor and ignore this resto all together. Restaurant Star puts to shame Japanese hospitality! Restaurant Star? More like Restaurant Rude! (And that's putting it kindly because my mother taught me well) 😤
