“Peaceful Atmosphere”

Kawayuka is popular in Kyoto in summer. I would say you do not tell the story that you really enjoyed Kawayuka without experience of the Kawayuka at Kibune. At "Ugenta", a famous ryokan in Kibune, you can enjoy high quality Japanese cuisine with the sound of flowing water, the gentle breeze, and the... surrounding greenery create a peaceful atmosphere that can be soothing and relaxing. The coolness of the temperature was so comfortable that I really could not believe it was summer, and my body and soul were refreshed."

Beautiful surrounding!! Nothing like it... Made the trek from Tokyo since we were staying in Ginza. Had to reserve through our concierge which was difficult in itself. Then we had to book the Shinkansen after our reservations were confirmed for the restaurant. Hefty price $200 PP round trip. I reco...mmend NOT taking a taxi since it's still very far once you get to Kyoto. From Kyoto Station, take the JR Nara Line to Tofukuji Station (140 yen, 2 minutes), where you can transfer to the Keihan Main Line to Demachi-Yanagi Station (270 yen, 10 minutes). From Demachi-Yanagi Station to Kibune-guchi Station takes 30 minutes and costs 420 yen. Trains depart every 15-20 minutes. From Kibune-guchi Station, it is a further five minute bus ride (160 yen one way, departures timed to the trains) or a 20-30 minute walk up the road to Kibune Shrine. Ugenta does have a shuttle, so make sure they pick you up and put your name in English, otherwise, you will have NO idea they are waiting for you. It seems like a lot, but well worth it. Stay at least one night IF you can since the trek is a LONG one! Food is ok. Wish it was amazing but the ambiance MORE than made up for it. ;)
