“Great tempura”
Another great intro from Keisuke San. This is the original ippoh and it has run for 5 generations of excellent tempura. The chef Iwanaka San put on a great tempura show for us! The owner popped by to say hi and even took a group photo with us. The tempura batter which is a closely guarded secret i...s light and crunchy and made the assorted sea food and vegetables delicious with just a simple dashi dip or salt. The decor is traditional and cosy with solid cedar wood table and this creates a classy ambience for the meal. Apparently Bill Clinton as well as Goerbachov were guests at the restaurant in the past

“Delicious tempura in a beautiful restaurant”
The food at this restaurant was amazing, in particular the tempura. After finishing the initial courses (all good too), we were escorted to another room where they cooked the tempura fresh for us. The batter was so light that it melts in your mouth.

The Eldest Daughter is now taking the helm as the 5th generation owner of a 175 year old franchise, she told us she has a total of 4 younger brothers and they grew up in Minoo Park. Most importantly, u get a 20% discount for dinner on Saturdays ...

“Beautiful Meal”
I have been to the other Ippoh at the Hankyu Hotel many times, but this is the first time visiting the main store. The place is an old house with many rooms. The place is a bit run down, but still very nice as it has the old traditional decor compared to the other one which is a modern restaurant ...with no rooms. Nonetheless, Ippoh once again delivered and the tempura was light and well prepared. Service was perfect as there were up to 5 people in the room serving the 7 of us. They were extremely friendly and explained which food to eat with which sauce. We felt very welcomed and would definitely visit again.

“Tokyo Branch - A bit disappointed ”
I tried the Tokyo branch in Ginza and I must say that as a big tempura fan, I was disappointed. The food was OK but way over priced for what it is.
