Yukari Howaiteiumeda

If I knew there were no photos, I would have taken more than just the okonomiyaki. There are many Yukari locations in Umeda, but this one is easier to find during the cold winter months--as you walk through Whity to the train stations or back. You might even miss it, because it blends in so well wit...h the other restaurants nearby. Okonomiyaki is an interesting dish. Some call it a pancake or like a pizza. It's kind of like a pancake, usually full of meat and/or noodles, some cabbage; okay, it's like an asian pancake. There are so many varieties, even different regions make it their own special ways. At Yukari, you can specify what regional-type you're interested in, which is an interesting plus. You also have the choice to pick your ingredients, and even condiments on the side to give the best aspect (for me)--dancing bonito. Bonito flakes can't help but bend and twist naturally from the heat of the okonomiyaki. It's beautiful to behold and really made the dish memorable for me the first time I ever ate it. This aside, your table comes with a heated plate, which is used to keep the okonomiyaki warm. Many places cook it for you, and leave it on a similar heated surface so you can enjoy your okonomiyaki hot. It is an interesting, special addition. Overall, I will say the service here is normal. Food was prepared in good time, considering the place was nearly full. I ordered hot sake and definitely felt a little light headed after I was done. During the cold months, as I said, okonomiyaki is a satisfying dish, with some hot sake, it's even better. This is a good location, with a lot of options to try out before or after your commute.
