“Disappointed. The restaurant had 4 stars but I hadn’t read the individual reviews. It’s in a mall with a bad view.”
Service was very good but food average for the area. The beef was very good, sushi fair. Hard to find on the 8th floor of the building even with GPS.

“Very good kaiseki”
I wanted to try Kyoto kaiseki cuisine and was very pleased with the food here. I got the 10,000 yen course, which came with melt-in-your-mouth wagyu beef, a generous portion of very good sashimi, and such delicacies as crab rice and soft shell turtle soup - yum! Some dishes left something to be des...ired--like a very bland turnip pot and a couple of pieces of fruit as dessert. My mom's seasonal mushroom course for 5,000 had a few good dishes but was a bit lackluster. The decor of the restaurant is tired and the staff is nice but doesn't speak English, so there's no explanation of what's what. The decor is a bit tired. Wheelchair accessible. Not sure about bathroom.

kaiseki restaurant in shopping building (name Minkichi), Discovered this place at luncht time. It's an unpretious, functional restaurant on the last fllor of a department store building next to kyoto station. Prices for kaiseki starting at 35.000Yen, dobinmushi at 18.000 Yen. Tasting both we were po...sitive surprised from appearance and taste of the dishes. Disappointed from service and apperance of the waitresses. Anyhow compliment to the chef and pls improve the rest. arigatou gozaimasu

“Lackluster”
If you are in Kyoto you must absolutely have a kaiseki dinner. Not only must the food be uncommonly good, but the presentation and appearance of the dishes, the environment and the service are essential to round up the experience. This restaurant is in the basement of the New Hankyu Hotel, just acro...ss the street from Kyoto Station. However, furniture and carpeting have known better times and although the service was cordial and polite, it lacked flair (I could hear in the next room the waiters telling jokes and laughing, which might be nice, but not elegant). The food was good but not spectacular. It was an inexpensive kaiseki (around US$ 60.00), but next time I'd rather pay a little more and have a more atmospheric experience. It was very telling that the place was virtually empty at 9:00 p.m. on a Saturday night.
