This place was fantastic. The server spoke a fair bit of English. The menu was in English. The prices were very fair. And the food was fantastic! The drinks were good as well. It is the street parallel to and just east of Kiyamachi-dori. The name on Maps is only in Japanese. It's just a tiny alley. ...Really great though. I suggest it!

TOURISTS TO AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Looking through the widow, it was busy and reasonably inviting for early dinner. We perused the menu and made some choices. It was all downhill from there. Everything we asked for, the chicken, the beef, the cod, each priced at around ¥700 was a ‘no’ as in not avail...able. It swiftly became clear that everything was available as a substitute with the set course dinner at ¥3,000+. We were not allowed to choose single dishes from the menu, as the locals around us could. This is appalling, racist and a host of other adjectives I will leave you to imagine. Meanwhile, we checked with Tripadvisor while we sat there and noted the stream of complaints. This was a very disappointing experience and we saw nothing else like it during our wonderful visit to Japan.

If you are a foreigner AVOID THIS PLACE AT ANY COST! They lied to us at the entrance saying that there was only the possibility to choose among two (overpriced) fixed menus. Then they lied again saying it was weekend menu and when we pointed out everybody else (Japanese and/or Asian people) were eat...ing different things, they just said they do that to tourists. The owner was unfriendly and mocked us, and he doesn't know a single word in English. Worst experience ever and a shame to the lovely Japanese hospitality we have experienced so far. Food is ok but it is not worth the horrible experience. Save yourself, STAY AWAY!!

Razzista. Racism. Racisme. Discrimination. They force to take the courses menù lying to us because we are foreigners, while the japanese people can order everything in menu. When we looked around and we understood what happened we call the owner that lied to us from beginning. He said that we are to...urist, so we can't order like japanese people.

We had a reasonably tasty meal here, although it was a bit overpriced for rather small portions. When we couldn't make sense of our bill, we found we had been charged for a small starter dish which we didn't ask for or eat. We were then told this actually represented a cover charge. On investigation... we found the fine print in the menu does mention the existence of a cover charge but there is no amount disclosed. The owner / manager was rather rude and aggressive (a first for us in Japan) about this and we ended up paying the full bill. We left feeling ripped off.
