Went to the restaurant suggested by the hotel. We sat at the bar to watch the meal preparation. Menu offered a variety of styles. Staff were happy to explain items. Excellent recommendation.

We found this nice little teppanyaki restaurant on Sanjo-dori not far from the Mitsui Garden Sanjo Hotel where we stayed for three nights. It was quite full when we arrived late on a rainy night, and the three of us were seated at the bar where we could see the head chef in action, assisted by his t...wo underlings. It looked like a traditional teppanyaki place but the menu actually has a bit of French flavour (especially the smoked duck). The three of us tried a whole range of grilled food, from Kyoto beef sirloin to shrimps, scallops to Tanba pork, and black cod to vegetables. Everything was prepared just right and tasted absolutely delicious. My son loved the grilled cod so much that he had to have a second serving. My only regret was that we were too full to try the big fat eggplant that sat invitingly near me on the bar. Our bill came to a bit over 8,000 yen including a beer for me. That’s very good value given its excellent quality.
