NADAMAN

Was staying at the ANA Crowne Plaza Kobe and decided to drop by the 34th floor for a nice Kaiseki dinner. Food was really exquisite and there was a very nice night view overlooking the entire city of Kobe. From the restaurant you could see the port, Kobe port tower and the Ferris wheel in the distan...ce. For an 8-course meal with such aesthetically pleasing presentation with emphasis on natural flavours, it was worth the ¥5000+. The appetiser of thinly sliced daikon, uni on cold tofu and wasabi mayo with cauliflower and mini prawns was a good start to the meal. Then came a selection of Japanese delights which included fresh sashimi, sushi, smoked duck, mackarel grilled till super fragrant, mini fried tofu with sweet sauce, Japanese seaweed topped with a very smooth delightful sesame peanut paste, yam balls and the sweetest carrots and radish I’ve ever had. It was high quality. Soup was also very fragrant and there was the freshness of fish! Tempura was crisp and light, not oily. Also loved the dessert of Kiwi sorbet which was very refreshing. The only small disappointment was the seabream rice dish. It came in a huge pot, enough for 6 bowls of rice but the rice lacked flavour. Nevertheless, I had a good 4 bowls. Very attentive service from the experienced staff. Recommended.

The view from the restaurant was stunning - the whole of Kobe and cherry trees in bloom below. Then food arrived arranged in tiers on delicate stands and decorated with cherry blossoms. Dishes looked too fragile to eat and we were amazed as the stands were replaced by sequences of exquisite courses... each with distinct flavours. The banquet seemed to be endless, each group of dishes a performance and lke live art in terms of presentation, colour and taste. It was a wonderful once in a lifetime experience.

Nadaman..., it's such a reputable name and I didn't have hesitation to organize business lunch but... I disappointed with the food. Way below quality of other nadaman. Or is our set not expensive enough to be better. View and service were good. Next visit ? I don't think so.

This resto is very accessible because its near shinkobe train station. The resto located at the top floor has a nice view of kobe but be careful in selecting menu becsuse some courses offer too much food especially most kaiseki have rice meal towards the end.
