“Plat du jour all around”
We discovered a bit of France in Osaka in this resto just steps away from Hotel Cross. It was a short walk but a bit more slowly as we descended to the basement level from the street. Inside it was very crowded with young locals or Asian visitors -- no Westerners. The servers spoke hesitatingly En...glish, but we made it easier by ordering the daily fix menu at $30. We got mussels, wine-flavored beef, apple tartan and coffee. It was both a bargain and delicious. There were crowds of people as we stepped back upon the street level.

“Grand Finale”
Our last night in Japan was made most memorable with a wonderful dinner at this cosy bistro. It happened to be when Chef Patrick Terrien was present during his annual one month visit to Japan. I’m sure the food would be as good all of the time, but without doubt the meal was a delicious treat from b...eginning to end.... a perfect finish to our holiday. Merci beacoup.

“Excellent French restaurant in busy area near Namba”
When in France we tend to look for Michelin "bib gourmand" restaurants as we know that they will deliver quality at a reasonable price. The bistrot d'anjou fits that bill perfectly. We went there recently on a family holiday - after a week of (excellent) Japanese food we fancied a change and this pl...ace was just round the corner from our hotel. The starters were excellent - a simple smoked salmon with an excellent salad or Palma ham and melon. Mains we had duck, boeuf bourguignon, lamb cutlets which were excellent. Deserts were good too. The wine list was perhaps the only slight disappointment offering a rather limited choice but the prices were very fair. Overall, very highly recommended.

“So good!”
After eating all the Japanese food for a week we were happy to go French. This is listed as a Bib Gourmand in Michelin Guide across from Dotonbori Ebisubashi run by a young Japanese chef who has only spent 6 months in France. Most of the customers were locals that evening and was packed but we made ...a reservation well in advance so a table was reserved for us. The service and quality of food here are of such high standard, and prices are very reasonable and comparable to similar bistros in France that we have visited. The wait staff would bring the pot of braised chicken when it was ready to the table for you to see before it is served onto the plate, and it has been a while since I have a baked alaska type of ice cream going up in flame in front of me! The command of English of Shinsuke San was very good in explaning the menu and each courses served. The 4-course set dinner were so satisfying and giving us another perspective of Osaka's dining scene.

“Amazing French food in Osaka”
This is a very cute French restaurant located in the lower level of its building. The staff is very friendly and accommodated my wife and I very well since we don't speak Japanese. They brought out an English menu for us to use. The food was absolutely delicious. I got steamed mussels in a white w...ine sauce which were the best I have had to date.
