“Memorable culinary journey”
Fujita is a kaiseki restaurant, doing around 8 delicious dishes using seasonal ingredients. What made it even better were the staff who were very happy to explain the dishes, often reaching for a Japanese-English culinary dictionary. I learnt a lot that evening.

“A memorable Kyoto culinary experience”
We had a memorable experience at Pontocho Fujita. It is a small restaurant, with 12 places, all counter seating, where you can see the chef assembling the plates which, despite the relatively strong lighting and no music background, makes for a very relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The restaurant ...specializes in Kaisaki, with 8 to 10 services, depending on which formula you choose. The personnel was very welcoming and went out of their way to help us understand what was being served by using dictionaries, pictures, drawings, etc... This is really a foodies’ place, with a bit of an adventurous twist, as you are going from discovery to discovery form one plate to another. The presentations are refined, the tastes subtle, but very different for a western palate. Would warmly recommend to anyone who’s not afraid of discovering new tastes.

“A beautiful food experience”
We had dinner at Poncho Fujita on the recommendation of a friend who used to live in Kyoto. This was an amazing and delicious food experience! Reservations are required. There is no menu (except beer and wine); everyone is served the same 8 course meal that changes each month. Each course is a trea...t for the eyes and palate. The seafood is fresh and presented in such a creative way that we were overwhelmed. The restaurant is family run with the chef, his wife, and adult children all involved. They were attentive and respectful; we never felt rushed or ignored.

“excllent authentic Japanese cooking”
I have reserved by internet this restaurant which had already good rating. Google maps location were not accurate and it took me sometime to find the place in the street Pontocho-dori. If you have trouble to find the location of the restaurant do not hesitate to ask to persons working in restaurant... nearby, what I did succesfully. The dinner was excellent and an authentic Japanese dinner, the Chef prepares dishes just in front of you and is very keen to explain in english what is on the plates. The atmosphere is quiet, mostly Japanese guests are dining here, no more than 6 to 10 persons. The price is reasonable for the quality. I advice not to take more than 8 dishes. I had several occasion to have traditional authentic dinner here in Kyoto or in Tokyo before for business purpose or vacation, this one of the best Ihas. I warmly recommend the place.
