“Refined tempura and service to match”
This kind of tempura dinner was a first for us, so it's possible there are others in Kyoto as satisfying. And if there are we want to try them too. There are several set dinners to choose from. We opted for the maximum tempura pieces. They bring each round of tempura to you as it is made. And then... recommend the best salt or sauce for each. Fresh, hot, perfect crunch. Corn tempura?! Instant love. Neither of us are overly fond of fried food. Too often there is that lingering film of fat on your tongue and lips. NOT the case with this tempura. It was flavorful and delicate and left you satisfied without any of that greasy queasy. The only dish that wasn't quite as good as it could have been was the second to last course that included a bowl of rice. Maybe we were a little too full to enjoy it, but it was a step shy of delicious. When you've had a dozen pieces of almost perfect tempura, we were spoiled for yet a few more.

“Excellent Tempura. Magnificent Meal”
Japan offered some of our favorite meals during our various travels around the world. Tempura is clean and fresh and prepared expertly. Every bite was delightful and delicious. Loved our meal here.

“Excellent Tempura”
We sat at the bar and had the 10-piece tempura set menu. Since we were at the bar, the chef presented us with one piece at a time, so the tempura was always fresh. He also advised us on which condiment went best with each piece of tempura. I especially enjoyed the shrimp, stuffed mushroom and gin...gko beans. The sorbet dessert was also delicious.

“A refined cuisine and excellent service”
We were in Kyoto when it was 100 degrees every day and we decided to try this restaurant even though I felt we could have been better dressed. Nonetheless, the servers treated us so kindly despite the way we looked. Once we started, we realized this would be one of the best meals we would have in... Japan. To try real tempura was a huge treat and we discovered we didn't know tempura until we tried this place. Everything was delicate and well flavored. The staff explains everything, including the flavored salt to use. The chef is a true artist and we delighted in every dish that came out. There were some great surprises like the corn tempura, the eel tempura, and the final piece of sweet potato and zucchini. There is everything to love about this restaurant and I can't say enough about the service. We appreciated the talented chef and his staff so much.

“Spectacular ”
This tempura restaurant was a complete surprise. The omakaze tempura presented us with many delicious surprises. Like corn tempura, lobster, some amazing vegetables. An amazing experience from the service to the food.
