Sumibi-to Wine Karasuma

We had a great night here with unlimited wine for 2 hrs and lots of varied foods at a good price. Most of the food is sort of Japanese fusion style with some more traditional dishes as well. It was all liked with some really good items. A fun place with great staff definitely recommend for a casual ...night out.

We had dinner at this restaurant but the experience was not nice. let’s first start with the wine and food. We started with the two hour unlimited wine tasting. Because the menu was in the Japanese language we asked the waiter if there was a menu in English, he told us there was and we could scan th...e QR-code. Via the link you could see the dishes and order by your mobile. We started with the salad and meat platter, both were nice! We really like ruquefort cheese and we saw it on the picture so we ordered it. When the platter came there were totally different cheeses on the platter witch was a little disappointing. Also we ordered a form of stew with mushrooms, taro and Wagyu. The waiter told us there was no more taro and if she could replace it with patatos, no problem of course. When the dish came there was no Wagyu in the stew as wel, it was just a plain dish with garlic, potatoes and mushrooms. When we pointed it out the waiter had a discussion at the kitchen en came back with the menu. She pointed out that the Japanese menu did not have Wagyu. When we showed here the English ordering link with the Wagyu she went back to the kitchen. After a while she told us they would remake the dish and we needed to wait. After a couple of minutes she came back and showed us a translated text on her phone telling us that we could not order any more. We asked her what she ment because we still had a hour of the wine tasting. She added to the text that we could not order any more food without any explanation. In most places in Japan we had the feeling that we were most welcome, the male staff at this restaurant did not give this impression. We felled unwelcome. It started when we came in and the employee at the counter totally ignored us when he walked by us. When you get seated at the table the whole crew welcomes you, this feels a bit weird when they won’t even look at you when you come in. Also the first male waiter was really short and rude in his conversation. We try to speak some basic Japanese words and normally people appreciate it. The waiter just gave of a arrogant vibe. The lady who helped us next was really nice! At the end of the dinner we were just done and did not want to continue our stay at the place.

WOW. We walked off the street because of the smell, thought we will get drinks and some tapas, stayed thru to dessert. Just wow, everything we had was beyond delicious, it’s like Italian but not like I’ve ever had, Japanese flair? Customer service excellent, food excellent, prices very reasonable, w...e were so glad we followed our noses and ate here.

This is an excellent value, generous feed. We ate off the a la carte menu. The specials were sold out, but we enjoyed the picks we ate. The seafood pasta was beautiful. The all-you-can-drink wine deal was spot on. The desserts finished the meal beautifully, which was a pleasant surprise because gett...ing an ice cream or going to a Japanese dessert place is often a better end. Eating around the kitchen made it extra entertaining. My wife and I were pleased. The staff were attentive and friendly. Shoes off
