Great small find around the corner from our hotel, does what it says on the tin, Italian pasta with Clams were very good and wine to accompany. Service excellent.

We stayed 4 nights in Kyoto and were a bit fed up with the Japanese food... We found this restaurant and it's just the taste we like in Europe, very good Italian food... pure and tasty! A bit small if you are very hungry. The chef works alone ... the atmosphere is nice with Relaxing music. I real...ly recommend it

This restaurant was just around the corner from our hotel in Kyoto. We had dinner there our first night. We sat at the counter and watched the owner/chef prepare an absolutely wonderful dinner. We loved it so much we had dinner there a second night. Our three week self driving trip to Japan cove...red 2600 miles. On the way back through Kyoto we stopped at Vicolo for lunch as we had been thinking about the wonderful food for two weeks. The owner speaks limited English but the menu is in English and no matter what you order it is excellent and prepared in front of you if you sit at the five counter seats.

We came to Vicolo on a quiet evening, and the chef was alone in his tiny restaurant, cooking and serving for us two. Risotto was delicious, and the grilled fish of the day was excellent and well presented, surrounded by miscellaneous vegetables and herbs. Pannacota was a treat. All that reasonably p...riced.
