I have been to Saizeriya once before in my life and it wasn't bad and I was amazed how cheap it was. So on this solo trip, I stopped at Kyoto Kawaramachi branch and ordered a pizza, corn soup, and beer. The pizza was bad, corn soup was barely edible and the beer was good, lol. I guess it’s a hit and... miss and you have to know what’s good or not there. The bill was less than 1,000 yen so I can't complaine too much.

Garish lighting lets this place down. It’s probably fine for teenagers but not middle aged westerners. The drinks are served in plastic “glasses” which makes the taste of the insipid beer and wine even worse. The staff worked hard but couldn’t compensate for the lack of ambience.

The restaurant is situated on the first floor of a building on the main street. It was busy when we arrived bit within a few minutes we were seated. The menu is comprehensive and the food reads delivered very promptly. It was hot and tasty. We ordered a bottle of white wine and were surprised wh...en we realised the bottle was 1.5 litres. Well it made a good evening!! Would recommend this restaurant.

Saizeriya have shops all over town. This particular branch is large and lively. I know you didn't come here to eat cheap pasta, but a good value ok quality lunch is important. At (currently) 500円 the lunch set is awesome. Japanese people agree and flock there. An odd question, which is the better Ja...panese experience? Eating sushi with other tourists or pasta with a pack of High School students using the space to prepare group projects? Saizeriya will not move you along pretty much until closing time. A lot of people are there for lunch and continue to use the drink bar for a coffee as they work abd study.

I ate a couple of times at Saizeriya and I really recommend it to those who are looking for some good hot food with reasonable price.
