“Comforting omurice and kushikatsu”
Stopped by and ordered omurice to go. It was much quicker than trying to get a table, as I was trying to fit in a few last meals before leaving Japan. They gave me an english menu. It came with kushikatsu. We went around the corner so we could eat it. It was tasty and comforting and worth the stop. ...I would have tried more dishes if I had time.

“Nice lunch”
Very nice, low profile restaurant for a quick lunch while shopping. We enjoyed a good (a strange as it may sound, the best yet in Japan) steak. Lovely staff.

“Generous servings of omurice at affordable prices”
Meijiken is located just off the main belt of Shinsaibashi, near the intersection where Rope Picnic is. Their main specialty would be omurice, which comprises an omelette packed with fragrant fried rice and topped with tomato ketchup. It is mainly just the omurice, but you can vary what it is accomp...anied with, be it pork katsu, chicken katsu or even croquette. Food service is efficient and portions are rather large as well, so if you are hungry get the omurice! Small eaters can probably consider getting one dish to share. We also got the pan-fried sliced fish as well (which I think is cod?), which took about 15-20 minutes of preparatory time. While the fish came cooked to perfection (i.e. crisp on the outside, yet soft and moist on the inside), the portion was rather dismal =/ Oh and the prices here are very reasonable, so if you’re looking for some affordable dining choices, Meijiken is a pretty decent option!

“Better than I could have imagined ”
I'll keep this brief. We stumbled the streets to find any restaurant to satisfy our desires, and by chance entered this wonderful restaurant. At a glance we knew we made the right decision; the chefs were experienced and the staff were friendly and accomodating to our inability to speak the language.... Not only was the service excellent, the food was top notch for its price - namely the rice wrapped in egg and the baked cheese rice. (Personally I'd highly recommend buying one bowl of white rice and mixing it with a bowl of baked goods for a fantastic meal). This baked dish truly was a highlight the cheese is amazing and not too rich. One possible complaint is some of their smaller finely sliced meat dishes. The price may slightly imply that the dish is larger than it truly is. The quality remains excellent while the portion may be a little small. Apart from this small sizing issue everything is impeccable and I most certainly would return upon any future visits to Japan. Would recommend highly. (Get the baked rice)

“Popular”
I went here with a good friend / work colleague whilst we had 24 hours in Osaka for a late breakfast. The staff were friendly and the food was very tasty. There is no English menu but that need not stop you getting a filling, good priced meal. Cash only is accepted. There was a queue outside at 11 a...m waiting for it to open on a Saturday so it is popular with the locals. Ask for Omu rice, its an omlette filled with fried rice and drizzled with a tangy sauce.
