Hashinaga

The food was decent but the service was not good. There were only 2 other parties of 2 guests at each table besides our table of 3 during the time we had dinner but the lady who seemed to be the wife of the owner acted as though she was too busy to serve us other than just bringing the food. We hel...ped placing dishes on the table as she told us that she could only reach the left side of the table every single time she brought the food. It gave us the impression that we shouldn’t bother her at all by asking more drinks or anything else. We were required to take our shoes off to sit at their horigotatsu table. That was completely fine with us and a pair of slippers were provided for our use to go to a bathroom for a convenience so that we would not have to put our shoes on and off. Because the floor was raised, there was a small stepping stool to get on to the floor. After I used the bathroom at the end of the dinner and came back with the slippers and stepped on the stool trying to get back to the floor, the lady shouted at me not to step on it. I was not sure why she was yelling me for a moment and realized that I was supposed to take the slippers off before stepping on the stool. I apologized but the experience was a big turn off. We would not going back to the place again. The owner seemed to be a nice guy though. It was unfortunate as I don’t remember food but only left us with a bad taste from the experience.

Friendly staff,  Good-looking dishes with fresh ingredients. However...small portion and some dishes taste a little bit plain, for me. Or I drunk Sake too much as usual ?
