“Great variety if Japanese foods that are all fantastic! Was great for our family and the staff are all great too.”
A wide range of Japanese foods that were all superb! We loved this place, friendly happy staff, great food and able to decipher our English and hopeless attempts at speaking Japanese! Definitely recommend if you need a really authentic Japanese meal that’s uncomplicated and affordable. Happiness al...l round.

“Nice Local Place”
Great little spot close to our hotel. Not quite sure what to expect as Japanese eating is still pretty much of an experiment for me. Ordered some simple things I was familiar with, kerage, tempura shrimp, potato salad, all really good, but the real winner was the daily special, gratin chili tofu. W...ow! This dish could make me swear off meat…forever! I had a second order, went home feeling full and planning a second evening here. They have an English menu that’s best described as “good “enough” Food is great, portions good, prices reasonable. Try this place! I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

“Good food but at a premium price”
Kamanza is located close to Kiyomizu-dera in Kyoto so the prices were high. I got the cold soba noodles which was 800 yen. I've had the same quality soba for 500 yen or less so it just seems like I'm paying for the location. I actually wanted to try the vegetable tempura but was put off by the price.... They do speak some English and the menu had English on it although not all the text was understandable. It got really busy and a little noisy. They only have one male and one female bathroom so using them when busy was also a problem. The food was nice but I wouldn't go back for the price paid.
