“Originator of Omurice”
Hokkokyusei Tenbozan is located at Tempozan Market Place's Naniwa Kuisinbo Yokocho, an old school Japanese style foodcourt. The restaurant piqued my interest because of its claim as the originator of the omurice which is rice wrapped in an omelet with brown demi-glaze sauce added to it. There was a ...large crowd lining up in front of this outlet because it was lunchtime and it took us nearly an hour to get a seat. I had the beef omurice and could not recommend it enough. The omelet was perfect. The rice was tasty and tasted like fried rice with tomato sauce. I also had a bit of the omurice my son ordered, which had cheese in it was also great. The sauce for my dish was more like tomato sauce. I thought that in terms of taste and size, this dish was very well-worth the price.

“A Bit Pricey”
We visited the one at Tenbozan as we were going to the giant Ferris wheel later. The staff were welcoming, not speaking English well but that's ok. I had pork omurice. It came with onion soup first but was in a tiny portion. Tasted good though. Then the omurice came. The omelette was nice and smooth... lol but the fried rice was quite bland. Only small pieces of pork in there. The sauce was not as tasty as I expected. Overall was ok. The portion was not that huge. I managed to eat it all when I normally don't. And the price was a bit higher but that can be understood as it's in the mall.

“Delicious omu (omelet) rice”
Before heading over to the aquarium, we wanted to get a bite to eat and while walking through the food shop at Tenbozan, we came across the wonderful food display of Hokkyokusei, showing all of the omelet rice variations they serve. We ordered the omu rice with meat sauce (kind of like the sauce fo...r hayashi rice) and omu rice with a tomato-based sauce. Both were good, but I liked the meat sauce better. Both were very filling and we were able to share those two between four people.
