Mugaru

I’ve eaten in many, many Indian restaurants over the years, in different cities in both the UK and India, and this restaurant is up there with the best meals I’ve ever had. The cooking was brilliantly executed, with stand-outs including aloo gobi and tarka dal. It’s clearly popular and I can underst...and why. If we’re ever in Kyoto again, it’s definitely a restaurant we’d revisit.

I been to many Indian restaurants in the USA, and this Indian Restaurant in Kyoto beats a vast majority of them by a mile. In fact, it is one of the best Indian restaurants that I have been to. The food is authentic and made from scratch. The staff and the owner are very accommodating and welcomin...g. There are also wide variety entrees to choose, ranging from vegetarian to non-vegetarian. I highly recommend that you all check out this hidden gem located near the riverfront. Wish we had this restaurant in the USA.

This restaurant has some really good Indian food and staff was amazing. My wife is vegetarian so we’re happy to find vegetarian food during our trip. Would recommend this place for a more formal dinner experience

Can you believe? Two out of four nights in Kyoto we enjoyed our dinner at Mughal. The food is absolutely excellent. The service and hospitality was admirable. We had a great chat with the owner, Yukihide Hirata and his Indian chef as well as Indian staff. At end of an exhausting day (walking an...d sight-seeing) a yummy Indian meal was a treat to senses.

I never leave reviews but this was honestly crazy. We showed up at 5pm (right when they open for dinner) and asked for a table. The restaurant was completely empty. We said we didn’t have a reservation and he said we are full and literally closed the door in our face. I totally understand a restaura...nt having reservations (even if they aren’t there yet) but closing the door in our face was wild.
