“Well deserving of 2 Michelin stars ”
The restaurant is about an hour out of Osaka centre but it's well worth the track up there. If you are taking the train there you should give yourself extra time. The food was simply amazing with the chef flexing her ability to demonstrate versatility. The meal is a journey of pairing of tastes us...ing very clever yin and yang flavours to neutralise and/or enhance each element. All courses served were a hit. No misses here at all! Service is tradition and unintrusive with restaurants as such. Good respectable service. Fully recommend this place even if you're not in that area of Osaka.

“Hidden gem in pristine forest reserve”
Superb food, impeccable service and pristine surrounding. Do not miss the opportunity to dine at Ichijunisai Mino if you are in Osaka and loves nature. Close on Monday and Tuesday so plan your visit accordingly. Booked the omakase lunch in advance and informed about diet preferences. One of my dinin...g buddies do not take beef and the kitchen noted that down and tailor made the omakase to suit her. Planned to visit the famous Mino waterfall before proceeding for omakase lunch but typhoon Saola caused landslide and closed the park. The restaurant is blended into the surrounding and don't even have a signboard so locating it takes some time although it's just right along the main path to Mino park. We were soaked by rain but the reception staff at Ichijunisai were very attentive and sheltered us into the restaurant the moment they spotted us on the road! We were given towels to dry ourselves and quickly ushered into our own private diving room - facing the forest and river. Cozy room and superb view. Menu was written in Japanese hence I can't translate them but the omakase menu changes with season and availability hence what you get might be different from my experience. One of my friends don't really fancy sashimi but she changed her perception after this meal as only the freshest and best ingredients were used. The food tasted so good from the beginning to the end. We were celebrating birthday and the kitchen specially prepared sekihan for the birthday girl. Very thoughtful and much appreciated. When we bid farewell to the staffs, they handed our coats - air dried and warmed - back to us. Really impeccable food and service quality. Will definitely return

“Japanese cuisine highlight”
A trip to Ichijunisai Ueno is an unforgettable experience. Located in a forested area just outside of the urban sprawl, this two star Michelin restaurant specialises in Osaka Kaiseki cuisine. We arrived on a rainy day to the waitress welcoming us into the warm room we were dining in. Every detail wa...s painstakingly planned out to make sure our 2 hour dinning experience as comfortable as possible. The courses beautifully and exquisitely displayed. Every bite was DELICIOUS and every ingredient is thought out with only in season ingredients were used. The staff spoke great English and we could communicate through broken English (which made the experience all the better). Hands down the best seared bonita fish I've ever had! If you are looking for an authentic and life long memory dinning experience, I highly recommend this place! Booking is essential, if you need help booking, call GuruNavi and they can organise your booking for you.
