“Best traditional Japanese food in Kyoto”
This intimate restaurant is one of the best dining experiences in Kyoto. Run and operated by the Watanabe family, the food is superb and service warm.

“Amazing!”
What an amazing experience, truly one of the highlights of our trip. We used an external service to make a reservation since you can't do it online and we were unable to call ourselves. They suggested asking hotel staff to make a reservation for you. We were the only ones in the restaurant on th...at evening so we were sitting at the counter, and the Watanabe family were amazing hosts. Keep in mind that English conversations might be a bit difficult, so knowing some Japanese will go a long way. However, they have a book that shows all English names of the ingredients used. The food itself is of amazing quality, and the chef prepares everything meticulously. We asked the chef to choose the sake for us, and it went perfectly with the food. I would give more than 5 stars if I could! Definetely going back next time we are in Kyoto.

“Delightful family style comfort”
Excellent meal. The Watanabe family are good hosts and very kind and gentle. Food prepared by the younger Watanabe chef. Flavor is very fresh, high quality ingredients and very comfortable without too much fancy complications compared to other Michelin rated restaurants. Very happy with the course. ...It was New Year week and we were the only guests at lunchtime. Glad for the private experience.

“Perfection ”
It was an honour and a privilege to dine in this incredible Michelin starred restaurant. The cooking duo are a father and son team and the wife is host, waitress and dishwasher. It is a tiny restaurant that seats approximately 10 . We were lucky enough to sit at the bar where we could watch our meal...s being prepared and assembled. My husband, an epicurean, was in heaven as he observed all the nuanced details and intricacies of every course of our degustation. The family team are so humble and give you back the feeling that they are honoured to have you in their home and indeed it does feel like you are in their home. I don't have enough superlatives to do justice to the night. Needless to say we hope to go back one day!

“Excellent Japanese foods and hospitality with reasonable prices”
We took a table at the far end from the entrance, where we could enjoy foods in cozy atomosphere. The foods are more than excellent with delicate tastes in impressive wares. They have nice Japanese Sake served in fine glass wares. Another tip observed is a tableware for chopsticks made of tin that i...s crafted and sold by Seikado on Teramachi Street.
