“Great obanzai restaurant”
We wanted to try obanzai and found this restaurant whilst walking around Ponto-cho. The food was amazing - the best meal that we’ve had so far in Japan. Plenty of vegetarian options and easy to order online in the restaurant. We reserved a table a few hours ahead but not sure whether that would be p...ossible in busy seasons.

Great food good service convenient location. Wonderful selection with private rooms. Highly recommend if you are looking for authentic Japanese food.

“Great food in a nice neighborhood in Kyoto.”
We had a family dinner here while visiting Kyoto. We all had a 7 course omakase set dinner. Food was excellent, selection, taste, quality and presentation. Great value for money. Restaurant is in a nice neighborhood with lots of good bars nearby.

“A must try, for the food and experience.”
The food was wonderful. Picked this place as it was a short walk from our hotel and so glad I did. Best food in Japan so far. There is a small bar area downstairs with stools for eating. We sat upstairs on the floor cushions ( no chairs) If you are not very flexible you might struggle. There are onl...y a few tables so it’s best to book. We were there mid week, late February. As soon as one table left it was filled immediately. We ordered some Obanzai to start. Wasn’t a fan of the Sardine dish but everything else was excellent. The Sashimi was a standout, Manganji Chilli and eggplant, also had the Drooling Chicken, a fried chicken, one of the Pork Dishes ( spectacular but I can’t remember its name. If you haven’t tried Sake before give the Tokujiro Sake a go - served cold, room temp, ( not hot ) it was very light and a top notch Sake. There is an English menu and you can order on your phone at the table. We were the only westerners there, everyone else was Japanese ( a good sign). The staff were lovely. Remember to book !

“Great food and reasonably priced”
Had a selection of tempura, sushi, beef tendon and soba noodles. Was delicious after a full day of sight seeing. Overall quality of the tempura and sushi was great.
