“Exotic yaki-beef parts”
Not bad to try exotic parts of cow but not exactly for dinner. This eatery/yaki was visited 9 years ago and it hasn’t changed since I last visited. The place is on 2 levels and the bad thing about it is that the second floor allows smoking. For an 8 seater area. The ground floor has 4 seats but i...t is a counter seat next to the charcoal. This place is suitable for the adventurous who wants to try different parts of the cow!

“An accidental find, a Pontocho gem”
From the ground floor this place looks like it seats only five customers but they actually have a fantastic loft dining room upstairs that overlooks the picturesque canal on one side and one of the main walking alleys of the Pontocho district on the other. We went in because of the photo of what loo...ked like nabemono outside but it turned out to be "horumon" yukaechang, i.e. Korean style hot pot stew and yakiniku skewers featuring various "offal" parts of beef including the heart, tendons, and so on. The stew was quite spicy and delicious and the grilled skewers were fabulous. It was pouring rain and our group of three had the entire loft to ourselves. (This kind of upstairs loft is common in these eating/drinking districts -- but beware if you have any kind of mobility issues. The "stairs" are more like a steep ladder and the traditional seating is on the floor at low tables.)

“Amazing food and great staff”
We stumbled across this place, just looking for a place next to Takasegawa River. The staff are great and speak a bit of English (so the all-Japanese menu isn't such an issue). But the food! You wouldn't think that beef heart is the way to go but it is AWESOME! The beef belly is amazing too. In fa...ct, I would imagine it is all incredible. We drank excellent sake and had an awesome night out. Highly recommended.
