“Great dinner”
Got a private room where we were able to relax while we ate and drank. Ordered beer to start, several small plates, and sake. Good prices!

“Great food, fun people, amazing waitresses”
We visited in a group of four Finnish guys. We stood outside for a few minutes wondering whether to go in or not (our Airbnb host recommended the place, but the menu outside was only in Japanese), when a waitress came outside and asked if we would like to come inside. We decided to go in once we hea...rd there is an English menu. I speak a bit of Japanese, but we would’ve been ok by just pointing at things on the menu. The waitresses were super helpful and (as it seems to be customary), they were surprised I spoke Japanese with them. I believe they even googled a couple of Finnish words before coming to serve us again, which made the experience much more special. The service was superb, but the food was also really good izakaya food. It made us feel much better about izakayas after we’d been to a bad place in Tokyo. If you see this, a HUGE thank you to the waitresses who served the four (loud 笑笑) Finnish guys on 8/28 and laughed with us. どうもありがとうございました😊

“Delicious and inexpensive izakaya”
In two visits to Nara we have eaten here both times. The food is fresh, delicious and so inexpensive. A plate of sashimi for Y600 :) We also had yakitori and grilled vegetables and a spicy little raw octopus and wasabi appetiser, with some local sake. There are booths and counter seating. We like to... sit at the counter and watch the chefs.

“Good and inexpensive sushi and tempura”
N34°40.945' E135°49.703' Beneath Owl Cafe Watawata on Sanjo Dori, this restaurant was recommended by our guesthouse host. Around the time we entered, only seats at the bar were available. Not our favourite dining spot, but booths are for larger groups. An English menu is available. In March 2018, ...we ordered Tempura-Moriawase: assorted tempura (shrimps and vegetables) for ¥600, Nigiri-Moriawase: assorted sushi for ¥500 and Onigiri: rice balls (2) for ¥300. The sushi was fresh and delicious. The tempura tasted excellent. Service was swift and polite. We enjoyed our food very much. It was not expensive at all. Recommended.

“No seats, full, no waiting.”
Decided to try this restaurant although there's been limited but favourable reviews. The food looked tasty from the outside but regrettably cannot give a critique as I was turned away by the server/host citing no seats, full and no waiting for a party of 2... This was around 8ish and no lineup ahe...ad of us whatsoever with some customers preparing to leave. Only perceivable reason was that I used English. No problem though, I'll take money elsewhere.
