“Good restaurant option near the Hotel HIgashiyama in Kyoto”
I was staying at the Hotel Higashiyama - almost across the street from this restaurant, and looking for a place for dinner and stumbled upon this restaurant. My sister, who I was traveling with had eaten earlier that day so I was on my own. I sat down at the counter and they gave me a menu in englis...h and while I didn't have the Okonomiyaki, I did order their gyozu and grilled shrimp along with ice cream for dessert and everything was wonderful. There were customers coming in and out and they were doing a lot of take out while I was there which is always a good sign that the people in the neighborhood order from this place. Highly recommend it if staying at the hotel across the street.

“Cozy and Fun Okonomiyaki Restaurant”
We asked our hotel receptionist to make a reservation for us at this popular and smallish okonomiyaki restaurant. The menu had English translations and we selected a couple okonomiyaki pancakes to share as well as grilled eggplant, yakitori with shrimp, cucumber with miso dip, steamed mushrooms, an...d steak cubes. It is a loud boisterous place with only a few tables crowded together. It was fun to watch the open kitchen as they prepared the various dishes that were served onto the hot grill in the middle of our table as they were prepared. The okonomiyaki had shrimp and other sea foods and was of a thinner style and delicious. In particular the yakitori, cucumber dip and steamed mushrooms were tasty and excellent. Friendly staff and patrons!

“Okonomiyaki”
We got the special okonomiyaki and it was enough for us both. Food is really good, I recommend trying the cucumbers with miso appetizer.

“Our old familiar Okonomiyaki place”
Found this place 3 years ago staying at Hide, few blocks up. Maybe because it was our first Kyoto Okonomiyaki, we loved the place, the friendly (and English speaking) team and their pleasant way of making great food. Even after several other places, it remains our favorite - and maybe the spaciest f...rom all. It is also somewhat out of Gion, so more at ease and silent. So well recommended!
