“Great French Cuisine”
Beautiful and delicious french cuisine by a Japanese chef. It serves a fixed menu of french food with a nice Japanese twist. A small intimate restaurant with a view towards a nice garden, making a table reservation is a must. Staff are friendly but limited English speaking. Nevertheless, they take t...he trouble to let you know in English what is served. Well worth a visit.

“Great French food in Kyoto!”
We took a break from Japanese food during our 10 day tour in Osaka and Kyoto and went to this place based on recommendation from a local resident. The restaurant was very nice, modern and comfy with a garden in the back (you can see Sakura tree from the main dining room). The food was amazing!! So...me dishes were very creative using both French traditional recipe with Japanese twist to it. We had the foie gras on top of Japanese daikon (delicious!!), grilled vegetables, mixed pickles, beef cheeks in red wine stew and lamb - all were excellent! Chef was super nice and friendly. Took good care of us and walked us to the door when we were leaving. Highly recommend when you want to take a break from Japanese cuisine.

“French food with a Japanese twist: very good indeed”
I went to Blanc Pierre a couple of days ago. I tried to get in for lunch but it was full so I booked for dinner. It is very popular with young Japanese couples so you have to reserve in advance. The food is modern French with a Japanese twist. For example, for starters, we had grilled octopus and sh...rimp on a bed of couscous - lovely dish, light and flavourful - and sea snails cooked in butter, garlic and parsley (very intense and delicious). Main dishes: crab and shrimp spaghetti (crab is in season!) and beef cheek stewed in red wine (wow, this one was so tender). My dining partner ordered a dessert of granite - again, it was surprising in a wonderful way and perfect for ending this excellent dinner. We had 3 glasses of wine. Total around 12,000 yen. Reservations are a must!

“Quaint restaurant with excellent French-Japanese food”
The restaurant has a very personal atmosphere as it has only six tables for two and eight seats at the bar opposite the kitchen. It serves a fixed menu of exceptional and delicate French food with Japanese inspiration, all at higher prices than small eateries but still a fraction of Paris or London ...costs. It appears to be a neighbourhood place with regular guests. All in all a little gem in Kyoto.
