“One of my favourite restaurants”
One of my favourite restaurants in japan. I return there at every visit in Kyoto. It’s a small restaurant, run by an extremely nice couple. High class food in beautiful surroundings: tastefully decorates tatami rooms, even for a single guest. The fried and grilled Fugu is among the best you can get.... If it’s the right season I suggest asking fir shirako (not on the menu). They have raw shirako or the more common grilled version. I prefer the first. A place everyone interested in good food should try if he is in town. It’s not cheap, but in comparison to the quality the price is more than reasonable.

“The glory of Fugu”
This is surely one of the best restaurants for Fugu in Japan. Since I know it I visit it regularly. The preparation of every dish is highly sophisticated. The approach to preparing the Fugu is rather original. I never got such exquisite grilled Fugu elsewhere. The Zosui with raw egg is a highlight t...oo. I can’t recommend this restaurant too much. The decoration of the tatami rooms is very tasteful too! Every meal there is just perfect.

“lights and shadows”
The restaurant is very nice and the service is wonderful. I did not like the fugu so much. The sashimi had not a great taste and the hot pot was 80% done by vegetables and few fish. The rosted fugu instead was wonderful and also the final risotto has been great. Price too high: 19.000 Yen each

“Excellent in every respect ”
I discovered this place last year and I was highly satisfied, so I came again. It was again a wonderful experience. Perfect in every detail. Even alone you get a separate room, nicely decorated. The tableware is very beautiful too. The restaurant offers various set menus 15.000, 17.000, 19.000, 21.0...00 yen. The menu is in English. I went for the one for 19.000, but I asked for shirako (milt) as well: I took it in 3 versions, one as sashimi which is not easily available and was great. I have been to many fugu restaurants and such have a good comparison. I find here all dishes impeccable, both meat and sauces. The restaurant excels in the risotto dish at the end. It is prepared for you by the chef. He puts 2 raw eggs in the broth and it gets a rather porridge like density with a lot of egg taste. This is the best zosui I ever ate. The waitresses were students with rather satisfactory English knowledge. Thus there is no problem of understanding for the foreigner.

“Interesting and highly agreeable ”
I was used in Kyoto to going for Fugu always to Tomoe. This time I found out about that one too. I was not disappointed. They have their own style of preparing Fugu. The grilled fugu is flavored in two manners. Very agreeable. The deep fried fugu was among the best I ever ate. Milt is served raw, gr...illed and half boiled in excellent quality and generous portions. All in all highly to be recommended. Very friendly service. Nice single rooms.
