“Crab-spoilt for ever!”

Reviewed 10/Jul/2018

This all-crab place has spoilt us for ever! The most delicious, succulent crabs served every which way. There is even a crab sake (yummmm). Traditional seating, with comfort option of sunken spaces, very responsive service and an interesting ambiance, the crab is king here! Try the barbeque or the... tempura or the soups or..... it's all great. Do go if you are a crab lover.

“Tasty crab kaiseki”

This restaurant is specialized in crab, and famous for both locals and tourists alike, with quite a few branches in Osaka and other parts of Japan. This branch is in the Umeda district, on the 8th floor of a commercial building. The setting is quite nice, with spacious traditional Japanese low table...s. We ordered the Takumi set, which has assorted appetizers, assorted crab (raw crab legs, lightly boiled crab tsukuri, lightly roasted snow crab, crab dipped in kelp broth, and crab with white soy sauce), half a hairy crab with sweet vinegar, steamed egg custard with crab, broiled king crab, crab tempura, roasted crab sushi, Japanese clear soup, and dessert. All the dishes are good and tasty, and I particularly like the broiled king crab, which can bring out the sweet taste of the crab meat, and it was cooked perfectly, well done with the meat still moist. And of course the hairy crab was also very good. I normally would just pick out all the meat and then feasted on the pile, adding the vinegar. The services are also very good, with the staff introducing the dishes to us. Unfortunately they do so in Japanese so I could not understand much. If I have to pick one thing to criticize it would be the speed the food is served. I would prefer they could slow down a bit between dishes, so the hot dishes won't get cold as a result. You know, eating crab did take more time if you want to pick it clean... With a glass of sake the total bill on the night was 24,611 yen. Considering the amount of crab we have, and the quality of the dishes, I would say it is reasonably priced. Even though it might be a bit touristy, it is still a restaurant I recommend to someone visiting Osaka.

“Enjoyable!”

Had an enjoyable dinner here. The Umeda branch is located on the 8th Floor of a building. The set that was ordered had around 8 items. The crab was fresh and done in a variety of ways. The cawanmushi was also super smooth. I would definitely return.

Have not been back to this restaurant chain for many years. The environment of this one is good. Food was yummy and we ordered two sets which were too much for us.

“Slightly disappointing...”

Great environment and service. The staff is very polite. You can sit very conformably. Tables are very spacious. I ordered the 千都 set which costs ¥5616. It has 8 crab dishes, some are good but some are a bit disappointing. The two appetisers and "hotpot" crab were good. The grilled crab was quite ta...steless. The crab sushi was rather disappointing. Overall, not cheap but still reasonably priced for a crab feast.
