Kani Douraku-no Okuzashiki Amimotohonkan

I had been to Douraka for a few times in these years. This was my first time to this restaurant which is recommended as higher class version of Douraka. However, I will not visit any of Douraka from now on because of my last meal in Amimoto. First of all, there was a COCKROACH walked on the table wh...en I was eating!!!!! I told the staff immediately and she explained it’s because of the “tatami mat” is not easy to be cleaned...... that’s horrible to see COCKROACH in a restaurant! Secondly, the service is terrible! I am disappointed that such a traditional Japanese restaurant hires some non Japanese staff to serve the customers. Those non Japanese staff are not well trained at all! The attitude of the non Japanese staff who was responsible for our table was rude and impolite. My husband ordered 2 sets of meal, the staff used a impolite tone to tell my husband that we were ordering too many food. She said “if you guys insist to order 2 sets of meal, it’s up to you! I can’t control it.” It’s ridiculous to talk to the customers like this! Also, she never help to clean up the dishes! She even used a tone to ordering us to cook the crab and vegetable in the hot pot by ourselves like we were idiot! We paid 30,000 yen on this dinner on Christmas night and we got such service and the food was not as good as our previous meals in Douraka! We will definitely not to go back anymore! There are plenty of crab restaurants in Osaka. Please stay away from this restaurant if you do not want to be disappointed.

The service is excellent that they arrange a private room for us to have the dinner. We ordered the crab set and enjoy the meal. The food is very good and I recommended someone who is the crab lover should try this when he go to Osaka.

We checked out this venue on the recommendation of a local guide and after missing out on the ultra-popular crab restaurant on the Dotonbori strip, and have to say this is a rather pleasant surprise. First up, we didn’t expect to be seated in a private room (the establishment doesn’t come with hal...l seating BTW). Both of us ordered the 8-course set and were treated to a series of crab-inspired dishes. My personal favourite is the crab hot pot. The service is impeccable though I was amused that we were served by at least 4 different servers all dressed in kimono glory. It’s a different experience vs the typical touristy spots in Osaka. Well worth a night out

I am a fan of Kani Doraku and wanted to book there but as it was full we took this alternative It was a good idea The place is traditional, at the verge of old fashion but the crab is really fresh and the cooking is really refined The stock used to cook is extraordinary and give elegance to the dish...es which have been cooked with it My best crab restaurant so far and i have tried many in Tokyo if not Osaka
