“Best ever cold soba with duck broth!”

We loved the soba noodles here so much we came for lunch twice. The rich duck broth for the plate of cold soba was utterly delicious. We loved how they brought a pitcher of hot rice water (?) so you could dilute the broth and slurp it up after finishing your soba noodles. Sooooo yummy!

Loved the experience and food -- ate here twice in our short trip to Kinosaki. The duck soba and Tajima nabe were both amazing. Service was great, even limited English assistance when needed. Highly recommend.

“Quaint, historic noodles restaurant in Kinosaki Onsen Town”

Reviewed 13/Dec/2019

We had lunch at Masuya on a Wednesday afternoon. The restaurant is a slim old terrace building just by the river. It felt like a sleepy town on our day of visit. The restaurant owner inherited the business from his father and had kept the old decorations. We had a tempura prawn ramen and a crab stic...k soba. Masuya have a simple menu and they serve traditional local food. We like the clear soup base and the texture of the noodles. It’s worth a visit if you are in this historic town.

After reading a great review for this place I tried the chilled buckwheat soba with duck broth. Was absolutely delicious. Broth was rich and mouthwatering and the noodles were perfect.

We found this gem on a recent stay in Kinosaki Onsen. A small family run restaurant. Loads of antiques on the walls with seating for maybe 10-12 people. The soba noodles were hand made and hand cut excellent texture. Well worth a try, we’d return.
