“You must eat here! Creative chef fuses Italian and Japanese cuisine”
This restaurant is outstanding. Chef Kouichi Watanabe, innovatively fuses Japanese ingredients with Italian cooking methods, producing courses that are creative and outside the box. If this restaurant opened in Melbourne, people would be lining up to book a table, particularly at the prices charged.... The menu was set and consisted of several appetizers, a sardine entree followed by 2 home made pasta dishes, a fish dish, venison and dessert followed by tea/ coffee and petite fours. All courses were done well but the oba ravioli was particularly interesting as was the eggplant/sesame-based appetizer and the sardine entree. The dessert was also good. The locals know about this place but this restaurant deserves attention from a wider audience. I'd highly encourage tourists to try it out. The chef and waiting staff speak reasonably good English-(much better than they realise!) and we enjoyed their wine - a sparkling Blanc de Blanc from the dolomitis and a montepulciano d'Abruzzo. This restaurant is just off Nijo dori so it's a short walk from several subway stations. It's not cheap but considering the quality, uniqueness and attention to detail, it's well worth it. Give it a try.
