Kyonokareudon Mimikoh Kyotoporuta

There is a line-up here that shows how much the udons in this small underground restaurant is appreciated by the locals. The udons come in various soups, all equally good. And the service is fast and efficient. A true delight, on the way back from the office at night.

This is one of hundred+ restaurants in the maze of corridors underneath Kyoto station, near the northeast Porta side. It specializes in curry udon, but we only tried the tempura udon. It's a small and super-busy place with, invariably, a waiting line (which moves fast). The noodles were quite nice w...ith a perfect slithery texture. The ebi tempura was also great. On the other hand, it's not a place to hang out for more than a few minutes (like most udon shops in Japan).
