“Hidden gem”
This is a small place with an owner chef, and one assistant. The assistant does serving, hostess duties, and washes dishes. Only a few tables. I get the feeling that the chef must have some Michelin training. Very nice presentation and quality of food. Located right next to the Nikko Princess Kyoto.... Highly recommended

“DELIGHTFUL ITALIAN FARE IN KYOTO!”
i discovered Cenetta Barba whilst I was staying at the Nikko Hotel which is just next to the restaurant. It is a small Italian restaurant with some table and counter seatings. The latter will enable you to witness the chef' at work. He has only one helper a very nice Japanese lady who speaks good en...glish. The menu is not extensive, reasonable in price which makes this place so simple and delightful. I ordered for dinner the beef tribe in tomato based soup to start and it tasted great. My secondi was the roasted duck which was cooked and presented well. I had 2 glasses of red wine from Perugia which matched the food well. The next day, I went back for lunch after my morning sightseeing accomplishments. I was again adequately pleased with 2 light orders, a homemade pickled starter followed by a simple but tasty pasta with peppers and olive oil ( aglia oglio). They are closed on Fridays apparently. The chef will also feature other items not printed in the menu which is hand written in a notebook shown to you by the lady assistant.

“ Italian Fare ”
Enjoyed a wonderful dinner here. Pannecotta dessert was especially nice. Warm and friendly staff. Small dining room which added to the overall atmosphere. Well worth a visit.
