Fujii

My husband and I just left Fujii... and debated writing a review. We want to keep it our little secret. When our concierge recommended this restaurant, I searched for reviews and couldn’t find much so we didn’t know what to expect. What a pleasant surprise! We went for lunch and sat at the counter.... From our first dish, seacucumber salad to the delicious sweets at the end - everything was Japanese perfection. What made this experience most special was the warmth and care of the chef, which was felt in every dish. This is the best miso soup we have ever had and when we asked about the special ingredients the chef said, “Love is the deciding factor of taste” (Chef translated from Japanese to English for us). We dined at other Michelin places in Kyoto and this is the best meal we had there. Make a reservation here - you will not be disappointed.

The young chef, Fujii-san, got his first Michelin star within one year of opening and well deserved --- exquisite kaiseki lunch in contemporary surroundings. We have always sat at the counter watching the preparation and enjoying the super service with a nice view of a maple courtyard and there are ...2 private rooms with garden views. Everything is just perfect. I am sure there will be another Michelin star coming his way in the not too distant future.
