“An Elegant French Dining Experience with Exceptional Japanese Ingredients”

5
Reviewed 20/Mar/2026

I had dinner at Chambord in RIHGA Royal Hotel Osaka, and it was a truly memorable culinary experience. The evening showcased refined French cuisine prepared with outstanding Japanese ingredients, paired with carefully selected wines. This restaurant is ideal for guests who enjoy quietly savoring bot...h cuisine and wine. If you appreciate thoughtful cooking, seasonal ingredients, and professional wine service, Chambord is a wonderful place for a relaxed and elegant dinner. The cuisine reflects classic French techniques combined with premium Japanese products. Each dish was beautifully balanced, allowing the natural character of the ingredients to shine. The wine service was particularly impressive. The sommeliers served each wine at the perfect moment and temperature, ensuring ideal harmony with each dish. Their precision and deep understanding of both wine and cuisine were remarkable. One of the most memorable dishes was the appetizer made with a large shiitake mushroom called “Tenkeiko.” The thick mushroom (over 7 cm in diameter) was slightly hollowed and filled with a gratin sauce containing Awabiton bacon (a premium pork from Tokushima), then baked. The texture was wonderfully firm and satisfying, and it was served piping hot. This dish paired beautifully with Meursault “Petites Vignes” 2018 (Frédéric Magnien), whose richness and subtle complexity complemented the depth of the mushroom. Another excellent appetizer featured Kamiyama chicken consommé jelly topped with asparagus mousse. Its delicate flavor and smooth texture worked wonderfully with Riesling Grand Cru Rosacker ”Calcaire”2022 (Julian Schaal). For the main course, I enjoyed Tokushima three-star Gold Star beef fillet grilled with yuko citrus miso. Yuko is a rare citrus fruit from Tokushima, believed to be a natural cross between yuzu and daidai. It has a refreshing aroma and mild acidity that adds an elegant brightness to dishes. When blended with miso, yuko creates a special sauce that is both rich and refreshing. As the beef is grilled, the yuko miso is placed on top, releasing a gentle citrus fragrance that enhances the savory depth of the miso. This combination elevates the natural flavor of the meat, transforming it into a more refined and luxurious dish. The harmony between the citrus and miso creates a deeply satisfying and appetizing experience. The dish paired perfectly with Château Léoville Barton 2013, whose structure and depth complemented the richness of the beef. The chef mentioned that whenever he encounters exceptional ingredients, he always considers the best possible way to prepare them. This philosophy is clearly reflected in every dish. Thanks to the excellent teamwork between the kitchen and the service staff, each course was served at the perfect moment. It was a truly satisfying dinner, leaving me both happy and grateful for the experience.

“A Perfect Marriage of Wagyu and Burgundy at Chambord”

5
Reviewed 10/Jan/2026

Dinner at Chambord in the Rihga Royal Hotel was a refined and memorable experience. I enjoyed the Beef Wagyu braised in red wine, Burgundian style, a classic dish executed with great precision. The wagyu was exceptionally tender, deeply flavored, and elegantly balanced. It was paired with Echezeaux ...2022, produced by Étienne, the fifth-generation successor of Gérard Julien. Aged for 18 months in the finest French oak, the wine showed depth, structure, and care in its craftsmanship. Its firm acidity complemented the richness of the wagyu beautifully. Together, the dish and wine elevated each other. This was not just a meal, but a thoughtful dialogue between cuisine and terroir. Highly recommended for those who appreciate true food and wine pairing.

“A fancy French venue in the heart of Osaka”

Our conference's closing party was held at Chambord. At first we wondered why our Japanese guests brought us to a French restaurant but then the food arrived and we stopped wondering. All the food here was delicious, but the main attraction here was the desserts. Wow! The event space was also re...ally nice and the staff here did an amazing job too.

“Fabulous French in Japan”

We enjoyed nine plates dinner course. Enjoyable amuse-Bouche, then effiloche de crabe kegani from Hokkaido with avocat with emulsion de citoronelle. Crab was fresh with umami and sweetness making the melting heaven in the mouth with oschetra cavior. Second plate, ormeau sautee which was obviously h...igh grade served in the big champignon. Fish plate was Homard Bleu with green asparagus served with two types of sauces americaines which were both elegant and sophisticated. For viande, we selected pigenneau du pays de Racan. Perfect! Sweets were also beautiful ly decorated. I regret I could not take cherry crafty as I was so full. We selected half bottle of Krug for ¥30,000 and half bottle of echezeaux of Mongeard Mugneret 2017 for ¥26,000 which was really reasonable price recently. One of the best French in Japan. I strongly recommend this obviously one of the best french in Japan.
