Nice Location, 20± same kind of restaurants arround. Gion Rakumi is the celebrity place. Quality of food OK. Staff pretends not to speak english, in fact they do. Menu without pricing. They show you the plates with options and then rip you off. Its a trap! We spend 24000 yen for some sashimi, beef a...nd vegetables and 2 beers. Insane. Absolutely a nogo after 13 dinner places we have discovered all over Japan.

Hard to find! It is located right on the corner with no sign in English outside. In a word- amazing. Not much English, but the waitstaff were very patient, warm and friendly and helped us choose the meal from a basic English menu. The pricing was not on the menu so we didn't really know what we wer...e going to pay but in the end it was 2000 yen for 2 for high end food prepped right in front on you. They brought out the ingredients for you to choose from. Our dinner included maguro sashimi, sea urchin, grilled eel (out of this world), wagyu steak, warabimochi (gelatin with toasted sesame powder with cinnamon and delicious), grilled shiitake and grilled tomato/eggplant mixture. Great authentic Japanese meal- no sign of anything touristy!

Perfectly prepared, amazing ingredients! A thoroughly pleasant experience. I dont speak Japaneese, so the details are a bit vague, but do not let that deter you!
