“A really unforgetable evening”
Like so many who spent a few weeks in Japan, we were looking for a change in the menu and found Pic nic on Tripadvisor. The review made here picked our interest and we made a reservation. As always we were fashionably late, altough I doubt the Japanese think of it as fashionable. Mums need more time... than the boys to get ready to head into town. The entree was very nice but we were here for the sausages. No need to keep the suspense: the best we ever tasted! I'm afraid my writings skills won't do them justice so go and try them, you won't regret it. The wine was nice, the homemade limoncella great, but the sausages made the night. Thank you Yuki and Rie for an unforgettable time.

“von Bismarck was wrong.”
We stumbled into this small, cozy place mainly to seek shelter from the rain, but it turned out to be a lucky hit. Since the menu was short but interesting we decided to have our dinner here. I ordered something I interpreted from the Japanese-only menu to be some sort of Beef bourguignon. It was ...a variant I hadn't seen previously, without red wine sauce but still very tasty and tender. Anyway, during the dinner, we noticed that they were in the process of making sausages behind the bar. Now, according to Otto von Bismarck, there are two things you don't want to see being made: laws and sausages. But actually, in this case, it looked extremely appetizing, just grinding fresh meat and spices and extruding the sausage. We promptly ordered the mixed platter but had to wait a few minutes for the lamb sausage to be made. Talk about fresh...nozzle-fresh sausages! We dug into the lamb sausage first, and I immediately realized that this was one of the better sausages I had ever tasted. Thin, with a nice "crunchy" (not dry) texture. Not too predominant lamb taste, but delicately spiced. Fried to perfection. Second, the pork sausage, was even better. I loved the coarse but even (lump-free) texture and again the spices were superb. The surprise was the chicken sausage which was actually the better of the trio. Again, spot on with the grain size and spices. We actually came back the next evening for a refill, but they were closed. Which was strange at 10 pm Saturday. Anyway, we'll call ahead next time.
