“The place you don't want to miss when Kyoto”
This is a great spot to eat Italian food if you're in Kyoto and maybe get tired of traditional Japanese cuisine and need to have something different The atmosphere is very cool with concrete column, supporting a wooden roof and rustic concrete walls That being said, the food here is wonderful keep c...oming back for the Barata Caprese, and the penny with Gorgonzola cream, and of course a bit of Wagyu beef The wine list is very nice and reasonably priced For me walking into some Japanese restaurants sometimes it's hard to even get in, but I feel overwhelmed by the menu. Polenta is not like that at all very warm, very inviting, very welcoming and very easy to navigate which makes it all the more inviting on top of the great service wonderful food and staff will visit here every time I come to Kyoto sometimes even twice in one visit

“Awesome Italian food in Kyoto”
Perfect Italian food in the heart of Kyoto. The chef is great the service from Shinobu was excellent. If you feel like Italian food in Kyoto this is as good as it gets, it’s like being in Italy

“We were tired of Japanese food”
We walked past the door and saw it was full so we went in, the waiter an american/Italian (his definition) explained it was Italian food with a hint of Japanese, it was excellent!! The dishes were not too much but each was very good and the teramisu for desert was excellent, not cheap by Japanese st...andards but reasonably priced at about 75 dollars for 2 including wine and beers

“Great Italian in kyoto”
We found this place on tripadvisor when looking for a nearby Italian because we needed a break from all the amazing japenese food. We had a great salad with beautiful prosciutto as well as some delicious lasagna. Not cheap by Japanese standards but reasonable by Australian standards.

“Italian food better than in Italy”
We stumbled upon this restaurant by chance because our first choice with view on the river was full. How lucky we were! The place looks ordinary but the food was better than at many places in Italy. The insalata caprese was made of the finest Mozzarella Burrata with delicious tomatoes from the Kyoto... area. The spaghetti puttanesca were terrific: al dente and with very tasty sauce. Because of our limited Japanese we just ordered "a glass of red wine" each and were served a very good Barbera at a very reasonable price. The best came with dessert: we tried out "Gorgonzola cheese tart". Slightly sweet, with just a hint of gorgonzola taste and served with honey and walnuts. What a discovery!
