“Bad experience”
I had a dinner at this restaurant at the Kyoto Station today. The meal was all good, until when I was stepping out to the cashier with a yuzu jelly that was included in my meal. The staff (slim and with glasses) was speaking to me impolitely saying that I cannot carry the jelly out of the shop. 1. ...There was no sign saying I cannot bring the jelly out; there was just a sign saying everybody can only take one. It’s not my fault that there was no sign. 2. When I just about to finish my meal, I went out, there’s no jelly available at that time, it was all empty on the counter, so, I decided to leave without eating the jelly, but when I pass by the counter again while going to the cashier, I saw some jelly had became available, so I just casually took one on my way to the cashier. It was not my fault that the counter has no jelly available for customer in the first place. 3. If the rule is not to take the jelly out, and you don’t have a sign anywhere that says so, I’d expect the staff to inform the customer nicely. Not with a disliking face and being rude. So, after all, really bad experience I had at the restaurant today. If anybody that I know of ask me about this restaurant, I would definitely tell them I do not recommend it.

“Pickles Buffet!”
This station does not have as many restaurants as Tokyo station, but this place is a winner. Rice and miso soup are unlimited refills ..both were absolutely delelicious. There is a small buffet with few options of Japanese pickles and Japanese roots. ( found out later on that Kyoto is know f...or pickles )!! Filled up on all twice, also got another serving of rice and miso. Service as expected was good. Just getting accustomed to having to get waiters attention Vs them checking on us . Other than that, reasonable prices and if passing through kyoto station, I would definitely eat here.
