NIGIRICYOUJIROUKAMIKATSURA

Despite the « excellece award » by Tripadvisor, my own experience was a VERY bad trip in all my « sushi experiences «  in Japan. The sushis served here are worse than those you can find in the worst chinese-japanese in Paris.... Very bad quality of rice, no flavor, horrible quality of fish.... Don...’t waste your time and your money, run away this place, there are much more good restaurants in Kyoto than this one. They don’t even know how to cook tempura...... !! It’s a shame !

The sushi here is absolutely wonderful. I especially enjoyed the shrimp dishes which serve multiple variations on shrimp in nigiri form. They had baby squid in sauce which was fun and delicious as well as the classic sushi picks such as salmon and tuna. Anything and everything I ate ranged from good... to great. I will definitely be going again.

Looked at several places for an authentic Japanese sushi meal in Kyoto. Closes for lunch at 3PM and we got there at 2.20PM so ordered frantically before the cut out time. Food, service all first class. Green tea however is powdered and you help yourself. I had missed that at an earlier restaurant an...d thought in fact it was powered wasabi! Trap for young players! But as good as you will get anywhere else when looking for fresh sushi and not too expensive.

I've been to Chojiro at least 7 or 8 times and haven't been let down once! The lunch sushi sets for ¥980 are especially good value and the tempura one evening that I had with sushi from the kaiten was superb. Overall, a great dining experience with friendly helpful service.
