“A lovely stay”
We had a lovely stay at this ryokan. It was my first experience in Japan and at a traditional inn. The breakfast food is amazing and special. They took care of our dietary restrictions well and the coffee was superb. I wish they would let me have a second cup at breakfast but I asked the first morni...ng and they said only one. They do offer coffee in the room, self-serve and that is also good. Our room had two futons on the floor and a fluffy comforter. Well equipped bathroom and shower area. The staff is so attentive and kind, always waiting for you at the elevator and when you get back from going out. Their little shop in the front offers some special Kyoto items and even after shopping in other stores I bought a few things from them. The neighborhood is stunning. The price is reasonable! I highly recommend if you are comfortable in a more traditional setting. We wished they offered more hooks in the bathroom.

“More than a restaurant...it is an excellent ryokan (Japanese style hotel)”
I am surprised that this ryokan is listed as only a restaurant. The onsen and the full Japanese breakfast in the morning were only the tip of an exceptional stay in a comfortable traditional ryokan room with a view of the temple across the street and the hills in the background to delight us every m...orning. The snow that fell the first morning of our stay made it even more magical. A short walk to Nishiki Food Market, temple, and other Kyoto delights completed the trip.
