We arrived where the map said only to find a dark closed building. The app said it was open. Does not help there’s no English signage. Is it no longer open? Would be helpful to know.

Delicious! Great food and service. I had one of the set meal with grilled fish and my husband the special sushi in persimmon leaves. Chef came to give us a tasty fish snack that was amazing. Highly recommend.

we did a lot of research and landed on this impeccable establishment for lunch for our day in Nara. Although the web and their posted hours has them as open they were inexplicably closed the day we came. However hey were selling their specialty Persimmon lease wrapped sushi by the box and we broug...ht some home to Kyoto for dinner at the apartment. Beautifully done. High marks despite the disappointment

We stumbled on Hiraso in 2010 during our first trip to Nara/Japan and had such a great and memorable meal. We were just traveling in Nara/Japan 9 years later with our 2 young boys that love sushi, and sure enough we ended up at the same place for one if our dinners. The persimmon wrapped sushi, full... dinner, was totally worth it, and for our boys we were able to get smaller sushi only dishes. We have been here twice, 9 years apart, and nothing but very good food!

Small pieces with salmon and pretty much small pieces of everything. My GF eat chicken soup and got 3 pieces. Way to much rice especially compare to the amount of fish. This is the second worst sushi i had in my life. Sorry
