Earlier reviews of this restaurant refer to sushi, tempura, a buffet, and a first-floor dining room. When I visited for a weekday lunch, the restaurant was on the ground floor and serving only obanzai: trays of 12 small bowls (see the photos on their website). The quality and presentation were very... good, though the food is not filling. The restaurant is modern and foreigner-friendly. The location in a very touristed part of Arashiyama means you may have to wait for a table.

Wanted to try this place but couldn’t find it right away. It is upstairs. Got the set menu. We got the yuba porridge which was a kind of congee almost, and delicious (instead of the rice). Fun and glad they provided some descriptions in English so I could really appreciate it.

We had lunch downstairs, temperature was nice and cool as outside it was almost 40° C. Sushi and tempura were very correct, we chose from the i-pad option because they had no english menu avaible at the moment. Sometimes, this is a bit of a mess as you don't really know what you are ordening. Beer w...as really good and the bill reasonable.

As an ex-Assistant F&B Director for many years and a foodie, living in Japan since 1983, this was the second time I had been to this restaurant as my guests I had that day wanted Sushi and this place is conveniently located right next to one of the main stations to Arashiyama. The first time I went..., I knew the sushi was mediocre as was this time also. I was not expecting much but when they brought my sake it tasted like crap. I called the waitress over and asked what they had done to my sake and if they had thrown it into the microwave to make it hot or double-boiled it and heated it up slowly as not to compromise the taste. They nuked it. Major flavor change! I told them to take it back but they charged me ANYWAY for both bottles. All they could do was apologize and sent me on my way! NEVER, ever again will I walk into this place with mediocre sushi and horrible sake. Go tot he Tofu restaurants that surround this place, you will be better off spending your money there.

Friendly staff, service is good, meal selection is limited to set menus, but the food is good. It’s not overly expensive and you don’t have to wait long for your food to come. WiFi is free and good coverage.
