Our first visit was many years ago at their coffee shop in Ginza, Tokyo. We loved the hotcakes and returned many times. Decor of the cafe felt wonderfully nostalgic. After visiting their honten in Osaka, we realized the shop in Tokyo was deliberately designed to recreate the atmosphere of the origin...al. We ordered the hotcakes, which were as good as we remembered. Coffee was excellent. However, the egg sandwiches and the curry rice were nothing special. We were there mainly for the experience and not for the food. Stepping inside the cafe felt like being transported back to the Showa era. The place was not touristy, mostly locals enjoying tea with cakes, and chatting about their day. We enjoyed tremendously this short journey back to the past.

A gem discovered. Nice ambience. A mix between Japanese and colonial feel. Sit back and relax, enjoy your coffee here in a cool air conditioned environment. Breakfast places that open early are not easy to find in Osaka. You will discover a few recommended cafes but they normally open around 9pm. As there were several reviews that rated it badly, we went there with average expectations. Perhaps because of that, we had a better experience than others. We... were at the cafe around 8ish am and were promptly seated at the back of the cafe. Our orders were taken and food arrived not long after. The curry toast was something unique and I tried that, If you tried Japanese curry before, just imaging a toast topped with the gravy. It is not bad but may not suit everyone. Coffee was ok. Maybe it was because we were early and they were not rushed. Overall, I would recommend the place if you need an early breakfast fix. As mentioned, there are not many places open for breakfast before 9am in Osaka near Dotombori area.

This morning, my family of 4 when to Osaka nice looking old coffee breakfast place, upon entrance, met a busy serving Jap girl, b4 we say anything, "no table, wait outside" . Told her cold outside, request to be seated in. "No, no, please stand outside". I walked along the cafe, n saw an empty table... for 4. Waited for awhile, still nobody occupying that table. We went in to request for seats, "No, no, wait outside" she replied. We walked off
