Sumibiyakiniku Tabehodai Jujuan Juso

We found this restaurant after a long day of travel, and frankly it was the highlight of our trip to the Kyoto/Osaka area. It's located in a red light district below a dingy hotel, and it was amazing. The staff provided an excellent explanation of what to expect (2 hours of all-you-can-eat/drink yak...iniku with a full bar), with last order at 90 minutes. There were different tiers of available cuts/marinades with 120 total options in the premium tier (which we chose). For the 2 hours with both all-you-can-eat and all-you-can-drink, it came out to about $40/person (4000yen). The first meat set is fixed, but the rest were a la carte, with very attentive staff who came over exactly when we needed them - as soon as our drinks were down to the last few sips, they were there. The moment we finished a plate of meats, they cleared the empty dishes and took our next orders. When we had questions, they had answers. And they didn't rush us, either - I asked how much time we had left after we'd already eaten 4 plates of meat, and they told us not to worry and that we had time to spare. The atmosphere was solid - I felt like we were in our own world, even with our fellow diners getting carried away. By the time we finished, we were so full and happy that all we could do was go back to our hotel and relax. I would honestly consider going back to Osaka just to go back to this restaurant. It was one of the best dining experiences I've ever had.
