“Good food”
Ordered from a machine. Lots of visual so easy to select. Had fried chicken meal, kids had pork and chicken meal and food is great. It's a set meal so that's soup, appetizers, rice and the main dish.

“Japanese teishoku restaurant ”
Had the mixed meat platter.... Small amount so order the larger one with a kirin beer for 12usd.... quite fast service... You order from a kiosk that took some time to get done.... The money goes in 1st....then pick what you want....

“open from early morning until late night, a lot of choices and budget friendly”
We stayed at San Crane hotel, Gojo-dori, and Yayoiken was just 200m away by crossing Karasuma-dori. It uses machine for the order. Attention: the machine asks for money first before entering your order, the contrary to the Nakau resto which is found on Gojo-dori too. But the machine works! Just you ...need to insert sufficient amount into the machine for all your orders, otherwise the machine will keep asking you to insert money. Food: there's plenty of choice, it tastes good and it is not expensive. To compare with Nakau which is open early and close late and uses machine also, Yayoiken has way more choice than Nakau. I had a fish meal, mackerel, for only 790 Yen. My wife ordered Japanese steak for 840 Yen. Budget wise, it's very good ! We had a dinner there, and came back again the next morning for breakfast. I really recommend this restaurant. As most hotels in Kyoto as far as I know don't offer free breakfast, Yayoiken is open from 5:00 AM.

“A third location with superb fried oysters. Also excellent in Tokyo and Okayama.”
Since we both raved about Yayoiken's fried oysters in Tokyo, we immediately ordered the same after discovering the upstairs branch at Okayama Station and later at this Kyoto location, a one minute walk from the Citadines Karasuma-Gojo Kyoto. We have been impressed with the oysters at all locations... (reviewed under their respective cities) and still can't get over how plump and juicy they are. You just can't beat this place for consistently excellent fried oysters. Look at the meal models in the window, ask for help inside if needed for ordering and paying with their machine (English menu version available with a click), sit down and wait for your food's timely arrival and enjoy.

“Good, affordable, ample Japanese food in Kyoto”
A great place, right next to Citadines apartment hotel. It is open 24 hrs and serves Japanese food in the style of US diners. Portions are ample, the choice is limited but overall very good with dishes of fish, chicken, pork and beef. Prices are very reasonable with most of the set dishes costing ar...ound 700 yen (approx $7). For those afraid of chopsticks, they also provide spoons and forks!
