“Ramen with Raw Egg”
Ramen Todai is a Japanese ramen chain originated from Tokushima. Before being seated, guests must prepay their orders through the vending machine, which can be operated in English, Japanese or Chinese. The small noodle shop is bright and tidy. All utensils, toothpicks, tissues, water, and free eg...gs are readily available on the dining tables. Food is not expensive at all. The sukiyaki-style soup base of the signature Tokusima Ramen (JPY 800) is quite strong in flavour by itself, but the addition of a raw egg (or 2) helps balance out the saltiness, while adding a silky-smooth coating to the al dente ramen. However, the dry and chewy gyozas are very disappointing.

“Efficient service and tasty ramen”
This restaurant sits on the 10th floor of the Kyoto station among other restaurants which all look equally great. There was a line but it was loving fast. You have to order using a machine before you enter the queue to wait. The fried rice was a big hit with my son who ended up going back out to the... ticket Machine to order another dish. Highly recommend.

“Tasty, lighter ramen”
This is a pretty unorthodox ramen bowl. The broth is not oily or fatty, but light and simple. The chashu is not really chashu but more like thin braised yakiniku-meat. Still it’s my kind of ramen: not too heavy, fine but firm noodles, and great fried rice. It lacks the milky texture of a traditional... tonkotsu ramen, and, again, on appearances alone it is very different, but I really enjoyed it. It’ll remember it for a while, and whether you like it or not, you will too. Their lunch set of the ramen and fried rice is 1000y and ends at 15:00.
