“Stylish little place down a quiet side street.”
We were staying in the hotel across the road from this place, and when we were looking for somewhere for dinner one rainy evening thought we'd give it a go. We weren't disappointed. The decor is comfortable and stylish, the food was amazing, and the service was warm and friendly. The dishes were Eur...opean style but with Japaneses twists. They were around Y600-800 each, and were more tapas style, so you'll need a few. Between three of us we shared six dishes, plus a desert each, which amounted to a good meal. Everything is prepared in front of you by the (very good looking!) male chef, while his female friend handles the service. Because there were just two staff it was quite a relaxed pace, but this was a welcome antidote to a day spent rushing around the sights of Kyoto in the Golden Week crowds! I'd definitely recommend to anyone who wants some a bit different for dinner in Kyoto.

“Nice little Restaurant”
We had a great time in this nice little restaurant in a small street of the main tourist paths in Kyoto. The young couple managing this place do everything on their own, thus the food took a little while to get prepared but the wait is worth it. They serve different European and Asian meals and ever...ything we tried was delicious. The restaurant is quite small. The owner's are very nice and friendly and we had a great time.

“A delicious culinary break in Kyoto”
We discovered Mumurik while searching for a place to have a glass of wine and a cold beer in the middle of old Kyoto. The establishment is small and cozy. We had been enjoying lots of delicious food in Kyoto, but this day we were looking for something a little more western. Mumurik is a tapas styl...e cafe who's menu includes pasta, some Japanese influenced dishes and western style small plates. The warm celery and chicken liver salad in a mustard vinaigrette was delicious as was the pasta in red sauce and the gnocchi. Tuna tartare with avocado was refreshing. Both the chicken and oyster ajillo were delicious and the quality of the oysters was top notch. The owners do not speak much english but they do have a menu that has a mostly english translation. You can tell they plugged their menu item description into google translate and went with it. For example, tartare comes out on the menu as 'tal tal' and the chicken is the 'bird peach'. Once you meet the owners, however, the idiosyncratic menu is endearing. They were very nice people who provided great service and encourage people to sit and relax with wine, coffee, and snacks. If you want a break from traditional Japanese cuisine, this is the place to go that won't break the bank.
